Family album
The unexpected death of my mother, Elisabeth Horrell, motivated me into putting together this online album of family photographs.
Mum died very suddenly in November 2003, and had been in the middle of cataloguing several years' worth of family photographs. Boxes of old prints and negatives were piled up on the kitchen floor of my parents' house, Lower Pengelly, at the time of her death, all neatly labelled with dates.
She was very proud of her family and I wanted to do something to remember her by. I hope this collection of family photographs past and present helps to mitigate a little of the sense of unfinished business left behind by her sudden and untimely loss.

A miscellaneous collection of photographs of my mother, who died on 7 November, 2003, taken during the last few years of her life.
Cats
Ever since we acquired our first cat, Suki, in 1987, the Horrell house has been home to several moggies. Here is a collection of some of them.
Morgan Hall
Dad was warden of Morgan Hall, a hall of residence attached to Hull University, from 1991 until he retired as a lecturer in 2001. Although the position was unpaid, he did have the use of a nice 4-bedroom warden's residence with garden.

Grampy's 90th Birthday
My maternal grandfather Clifford Evans became a nonagenarian in June 2003. Some of the family gathered in the garden of his house in Coton, near Cambridge, to celebrate.

1999
Paul and Clare's Wedding
Cousin Paul Horrell and cousin-in-law Clare were married in the village of Ashchurch in Devon in May 1999. The reception took place in a marquee on the old tennis court at Netherton Farm.
The Eclipse
On 11th August 1999, at about 11am, the southwestern corner of the UK was witness to a total solar eclipse. My parents' house in Cornwall was host to several visitors who came for the event.
Isles of Scilly
Mum and Dad made two trips to the Scilly Isles in 1999: once in the spring with their friends Fay and Sam Simpson, and once by themselves later in the year.
St Gabriel's Manor
I bought my flat in St Gabriel's Manor, a converted monastery in Camberwell, South London, in 1999. Here is a collection of photographs taken by Mum when she helped me to move in that autumn.

Test Match Weekend
The family met up for the Ashes test match at the Oval in September. Although we missed the match because it was over in 3 days, we found other ways of keeping ourselves entertained.

Julian and Ali's Wedding
Cousin Julian and cousin-in-law Alison were married in Bedford in February 1995. The reception was held in Woburn Abbey.
Tintagel
Some photographs of me and Perran on the hills above Tintagel, reputedly the birthplace of King Arthur, taken during a typical windy, overcast Cornish day.
Brittany
In September 1995, Mum and Dad hired a cottage in Brittany for a week, and visited a few sites such as the ancient stones at Carnac. I went with them.
